Different skin types require different treatment. Although the homemade facial masks treatment is not as strong as pharmaceutical one, you should know which ingredients use under which type of skin. The tips below are also true for commercial creams and masks usage.
Be careful in using any homemade mask. The skincare guide applies to folk remedies and may not be suitable for everyone: That’s because we all have different skin sensitivities. Additional precaution you should take is to use only organic ingredients, both in skin care and food consumption. Knowing your skin structure is also beneficial, so you will know what the skin care companies are talking about.
This is the outline of the skin types and their appropriate treatment:
Oily Skin
Avoid facial mask recipes with too much of the oil ingredient: Olive oil, avocado and herbal oils are good for your nutrition with any skin type, but use them in the homemade facial masks as little as possible.
Use facial masks with exfoliating and acidic ingredients like tomato, apple, lemon, cranberries and other sour fruits. These ones reduce the excessive sebum , which is produced in sebaceous glands , and peel away the dead skin cells. Remember to use your oily skin moisturizer right after the facial mask treatment to balance your skin pH .
First you should check with your dermatologist if it’s really acne or other skin care condition (i.e. skin illness). The treatment is the same as in oily skin; just add to the equation the Saint Johns wort and other herbal facial masks for acne.
Dry Skin
Use the less-exfoliating masks (with less alpha-hydroxy-acids content). Best masks to use: Masks with honey, banana, green tea and other less-acidic ingredients. Additionally although it seems appealing, don’t exaggerate with the oil ingredient in your facial masks: Use masks with essential oils, like avocado mask , up to twice a week. This also applies to moisturizers.
Sensitive skin
First you should go to dermatologist to see which chemicals irritate your skin the most. Don’t use exfoliating homemade masks at all, because they might give you a rash.
Best ingredients for your homemade facials are green tea, cucumber and Aloe Vera.
Anti Aging Treatment
Like in the dry skin, use facial masks recipes with oily ingredients up to twice a week. Plus Read these pages to know more: General information on anti aging, the anti aging amino acids page and the alpha hydroxy acids page. The last one is about the skin exfoliation and its benefits.
